About the Book

The essays in this book are President Ikeda’s prescription for maintaining, and even creating, hope in difficult times when it may seem more natural to turn to despair. Having lived through relentless hardship — tragedies of World War II, including the loss of a brother on the warfront, deprivations in post-war Japan, and a continuous battle with ill health — President Ikeda’s own life serves as a shining example of ‘hope’ being a ‘decision’.
